it's the annual st. mark's christmas party

presents collect under the tree

chris, as per custom, slices the turkey that's at the center of the pot luck dinner.

friends gather and enjoy a variety of foods. yu arrives with an elaborately decorated cake. conversation includes more than the topic of the gifts everyone brought to the party.

marc enjoys an ice cream dollop on top of a warm chocolate chip cookie. justin captures video of the event. kip and alex talk shop.

as dessert is finished, chris climbs onto the desk and announces the rules for the evening's white elephant game. dave passes the hat and numbers indicating a picking order are drawn.

with a brief review of the rules, the picking and climbing begins!

the comments are fast and furious. the humor of chris's delivery cannot be captured by mere typed words. the "high amazon resale value" is mentioned often whenever a dvd is unwrapped.

eventually, a freakish gollum standee is opened, much to the delight of the party's lord of the rings fans. after taking dozens and dozens of photos, the camera's memory card is full. the drinking and partying continues into the night.
