it's april - imagine you still have hope the ny mets will have a good season...
wednesday - april 23rd - al leiter on the mound!
is it true? will the mets actually be able to score a few runs?
somehow the mets party patrol became the mets party-gras. between innings a few people dance on the sharp diamondvision screen. the dancers are joined by mr. met.
and!!!! mr. met recognizes dan from dan's karaoke birthday party in february! he taps dan on the back and then poses for a few photos!
final score - mets 4, houston astros 2. sujan and dan celebrate. jamie smiles smiles mostly because he's happy to be leaving the cold confines of shea (and because he was glad to see mr. met again).
sunday - april 27, 2003 (a double header between the mets and the arizona diamondbacks)
according to dave, the weather is good, playing softball in the morning was fun and all systems are go! for a fun day at the ballpark.
but it's strikeout city for the mets.
mitch enjoys a cool beverage.
it starts to dawn on everyone that game two might be as depressing as game one (mets 1 run, arizona 6 runs). perhaps now is the time to read sunday's new york times (is mitch heading for arts & leisure again?)
as shinjo knocks one foul, dave listens to the game on his recently acquired (with much difficulty) transistor radio.
game two - randy johnson on the mound. he towers over third base coach, matt galante.
jamie joins the gang for the last half of the second game.
during the 7th inning stretch jamie and mitch attempt to bring much needed life to the proceedings.
mike piazza can't save the day.
speaking of saves, it's armando benitiz facing a round of "boos" as he heads for bench after a terrible inning. the diamondbacks win scoring 7 runs to the 3 put on the board by the mets.
