sam and nicole visit!
april 7-8, 2003
because i was out of town saturday and sunday, i wasn't able to hang out with sam and nicole until monday and tuesday. barry had left town by then, but i did get to hear the gang on WCAL.
during dinner at joe's shanghai in chinatown nicole smiles at her return to balgavy(dot)com and sam offers the international signal for "shame, shame" to someone across the table.

outside the restaurant the group watches the rain melt the snow. the usual post-dinner conversation about where to go for drinks is also held. jamie reminds everyone that lolita is just a few blocks away.
at lolita, the group takes over - being a monday night, it isn't difficult. the only two people at the bar who didn't know sam and nicole are the bartender and one patron seated on a barstool.
amidst the conversation and catching up, sam convinces marc to relax and have a massage.
tuesday - heartland brewery @ union square
as the dinner menu is examined, sam begins to make short work of the selection of heartland beer offerings. his "beer voyage" has officially begun.
while waiting for the food to arrive, the storytelling begins in earnest. kaci shares an experience from monday about a crazy lady and an umbrella. i can't begin to do this story. you must ask her for the details.

after dinner, a few of us retire to a bar near irving plaza. like the previous night, we're able to secure a back room to ourselves. a few other bar goers wander through to use the payphone and whatnot.
