as the party begins, anders puts the final touches on the food.

as the apartment starts to fill, strangers are introduced and anders sports a tie and vest for the occasion.
dan, sujan and sarah start the traditional gathering around the television.
upset that i keep snapping photos of her, sujan "flips the bird." it will not be the first middle finger sported during the night.

amy turns the channel to watch the ball drop...alex and jamie smile because mario lopez of 'saved by the bell' fame is co-hosting with dick clark.
as the ball drops, the champagne is opened! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
it's toasts galore as friends wish each other well.
alex grimaces. jim welcomes anders' friends. anne toasts to exciting things in 2003. chris and justin take the serious approach to champagne consumption.

the dancing is underway, yet sujan, dan and jamie enjoy beers from the couch.
it's after midnight and the silliness is allowed to begin! marc goes for the self-portrait (mouth open, though?)...notice anne barely appearing due to poor composition.
outside, the final fireworks over prospect park are seen and another toast to the new year is had!
nate (he's from a tobacco town) has a cigarette next to the fire escape.
donovan mentions he spent the previous week driving from illinois. jamie and chris - i dunno. those aren't gang signs, are they?
oh, jamie and chris (along with nate) were practicing their hand signals to form some sort of representation of 2003.
