An early afternoon trip to a book superstore brought about an interesting situation. Something in Listmaker's wallet set off the alarm and in what seemed like a bad one-act play from high school drama class was performed. Eventually, Listmaker was allowed to exit the store without any sort of police escort.
Lunch meant chicken and waffles at Roscoe's. Jen explores the available condiments.
Jamie walks back to the minivan to retrieve the parking garage ticket. This whole validation thing is new to those who don't park in the big city on a regular basis.
At the Dodger game that night I approach my super size Dodger Dog with the intensity of a man who cannot be denied the finer treats of baseball stadiums across the land.
A fine place to see a game.
Youthlarge - taken out to the ballgame.
The post-game gang.
In-N-Out burger LA style. Youthlarge couldn't be more obviously secretly happy about going Monster Style.
The palm trees on the cups tease folks from the east coast...taunting us with the west coast fast food superiority. A way of saying "our fine establishment will never be enjoyed in your neck of the woods."
On the last full day of the trip, it was time for another hike. There were signs for mountain lions. A few of us could only get our minds off Six Feet Under when we realized how thirsty we were.
There were also horses on the trail. It was dusty. And it sort of smelled. But it was also the hottest part of the day.
And as Dave and Jen can attest, the sightseeing is really incredible.
As silly as I felt taking a photo of the Hollywood sign, I think I would've felt sillier coming home without one.
After some time in traffic and a stop for Slurpees, the crew arrives in Long Beach.
The last game of the trip finds everyone in good spirits and excited about the recently formed independent Golden Baseball League. Happily, the schedule let us catch the visiting Japanese Samurai Bears.
I was ready to abandon my hot dog eating when I saw french dip on the menu. But the concessions team didn't make any that night. I happily settled for my eighth (ninth?) hot dog of the trip. Oh, and on the plus side - free Long Beach Armada Trucker Caps!!!
The Samurai Bears may not have the best record, but they do know how to please the fans.
The Samurai Bears step to the plate with intro music!
Nothing says good times like mesh caps!
Ever the contrarian, Jen sports her newly acquired Samurai Bears cap. I couldn't have been happier about my temporary tattoo.
Feeling somewhat sprightly, I cut in front of a little kid to have my photo taken with Arby I., the team mascot who parades around the field on a Segway.
Group pictures are the best.
Listmaker, Youthlarge and I enjoyed our last meal of the trip - midnight tacos at El Gran Burrito. Fantastic.
